Jack Black’s parents, Judith Love Cohen and Thomas William Black, were both aerospace engineers. Judith worked on the Hubble Space Telescope and famously helped Apollo 13 return to Earth in 1970. Thomas and Judith divorced when Jack was 10 years old. Judith later remarried, while Thomas moved abroad and eventually returned to the U.S. to live on an apple orchard in Washington.
