Jalen Marquis McDaniels was born on January 31, 1998, in Seattle, Washington, United States. He is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA. Jalen played college basketball for the San Diego State Aztecs.
McDaniels attended Federal Way High School in Federal Way, Washington. He was ranked as the 98th best prospect in the class of 2016 during his senior season. In high school, he averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocked shots per game, leading Federal Way to an undefeated season and a Class 4A state championship. Jalen red-shirted during the 2016-2017 season. In his freshman season, he averaged 10.5 points in 24.7 minutes per game, starting 21 out of 33 games. As a sophomore, he improved, averaging 15.9 points and leading the team in rebounding with 8.3 rebounds per game. In March 2019, he declared for the 2019 NBA draft.
Drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in the second round (52nd overall) in the 2019 NBA draft. He has played for the Charlotte Hornets, Greensboro Swarm, Philadelphia 76ers, and Toronto Raptors before joining the Sacramento Kings. Last season, he played for the Raptors, averaging 3.4 points per game while making 17% of his 3-pointers.
