COVID-19 In Ohio: Years Since The Start Of The Pandemic, 52% OFF

    Recorded Numbers and Variants:

      • Ohio’s recorded COVID-19 numbers are currently at pandemic-inception level lows.
      • However, the virus is still present, and a summer surge isn’t out of the question.
      • New variants, such as FLiRT (KP.1 and KP.2), could contribute to a possible surge both statewide and nationally.
      • Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, director of the Ohio Department of Health, considers the current numbers “encouraging” but emphasizes the need for vigilance.

    Recent Case Numbers:

      • In May, Ohio reported a slight uptick in cases after months of decline.
      • For the week of May 24-30, there were 890 reported cases, bringing the total reported COVID-19 cases in Ohio to 3,748,893 since the pandemic began.
      • Hospitalizations and deaths remain relatively low, but vigilance is essential.

    Vacination Rate

In Ohio, 66% of the state’s population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Additionally, 61% of Ohioans are considered fully vaccinated. A small percentage of the population has also received a booster dose. The latest data shows that 60% of Ohioans aged 18 and over have received at least one dose, while 58% of all eligible Ohioans (those 12 and older) are either fully or partially vaccinated. For childhood vaccinations, coverage rates for DTaP, polio, and MMR vaccines have remained relatively high.
