Darnell Nurse was born on February 4, 1995, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He comes from a family with strong athletic ties: his father, Richard Nurse, played in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and his mother, Cathy Nurse, was a basketball player.
Growing up, Darnell played multiple sports, but hockey became his true passion. Nurse played junior hockey for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). His impressive performance caught the attention of NHL scouts, leading to his selection by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft (7th overall).
Darnell Nurse made his NHL debut with the Edmonton Oilers during the 2014–2015 season.His defensive skills, physicality, and ability to log significant ice time quickly established him as a key player on the team.
