Plot:
The series opens with Rusty Sabich (Jake Gyllenhaal), a seasoned prosecutor in the Chicago District Attorney’s office. His life takes a dark turn when Carolyn Polhemus (played by an as-yet-unnamed actress), a fellow prosecutor and Rusty’s former lover, is brutally murdered. The crime scene is gruesome, and all evidence points to Rusty as the prime suspect.
As the investigation unfolds, Rusty’s life unravels. He struggles to maintain his innocence while dealing with mounting pressure from his colleagues, the media, and the public. His wife, Barbara Sabich (Ruth Negga), also stands by him, torn between loyalty and doubt.
Raymond Horgan (Bill Camp), the tough-as-nails district attorney, also leads the case against Rusty. Horgan is determined to solve the murder, but he also harbors personal and political motivations. Nico Della Guardia (O-T Fagbenle), Rusty’s enigmatic colleague, has secrets of his own, further complicating the investigation.
