    Biography:

    Sara Cox was born on December 13, 1974, in Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. She dropped the letter ‘h’ from her first name, becoming known as Sara Cox. Her parents lived in the village of Little Lever, where she grew up on her father’s farm. She was the youngest of five children, and her parents separated when she was young. Cox attended Smithills High School and also left Canon Slade School after completing her A-levels to pursue a career in modeling.

    Her career began in modeling, and she appeared in music videos and promotional posters. In 1996, she presented “The Girlie Show” on Channel 4 and later hosted shows on MTV and Channel 5. Cox won her first film role in “The Bitterest Pill” (1998).

    In 1999, she joined BBC Radio 1, co-hosting “The Surgery” and the Saturday lunchtime show. From April 2000 to December 2003, she hosted Radio 1 Breakfast, also achieving record-breaking audience figures. Since January 2019, Cox has hosted the BBC Radio 2 drivetime show. She presented TV shows like “The Great Pottery Throw Down,” “Too Much TV,” and “Back in Time for…” Cox wrote the memoir “Till the Cows Come Home” (2018) and the successful debut novel “Thrown” (2022). Her second novel, “Way Back,” was published in March 2024. She lives with her family in North London.
