Andrew Thomas McCarthy was born on November 29, 1962, in Westfield, New Jersey, USA. He grew up in a middle-class Christian family and attended local schools. His father was a former army officer, and his mother was a homemaker. McCarthy also gained fame as a member of the Brat Pack, a group of young actors who rose to prominence in the 1980s. His breakout role came in the 1983 romantic comedy-drama film “Class,” where he portrayed a prep school student navigating love and also social dynamics. Collaborating with director John Hughes, McCarthy starred in iconic films like “St. Elmo’s Fire” (1985) and “Pretty in Pink” (1986).
Career
