Biography:
Ruth Wendy Holmes (née Langsford) was born on March 17, 1960 in Singapore. She is an English television presenter known for her diverse career in broadcasting.
Ruth began her career as a continuity announcer and newscaster with ITV regional station Television South West (TSW) in Plymouth, England. She left TSW when Westcountry Television took over the franchise in 1993. From 1999 to 2002, Ruth was a regular panellist on ITV’s daytime chat show Loose Women. In 2010, she also returned to the show as a stand-in anchor until 2013.
Ruth co-hosted This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield, becoming the longest-serving presenter of the program. Later, the show introduced Eamonn Holmes as her co-host every Friday. Ruth was also one of the main presenters on the now-defunct TV Travel Shop (1998–2005).She hosted various shows, including The Answer Lies in the Soil, The Great British Garden Show, and Mysterious West.
Ruth narrated the television series Zoo Story set at Paignton Zoo in 2004. Since 2015, Ruth and Eamonn Holmes have presented Channel 5 series How the Other Half Lives. She also co-hosts Ruth Langsford’s Fashion Edit alongside Jackie Kabler for QVC. In 2017, Ruth participated in the fifteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing, finishing in ninth place. Ruth is married to fellow presenter Eamonn Holmes, and they have one child together.
