Morgan Valentine Spurlock was born on November 7, 1970, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, USA. He attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he also earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in film. During his time at NYU, he honed his skills as a storyteller and filmmaker, setting the stage for his later career. Before gaining widespread recognition as a documentary filmmaker, Spurlock worked as a playwright. His play The Phoenix received acclaim and showcased his talent for storytelling.
In 2004, Spurlock directed the groundbreaking documentary Super Size Me. The film followed his own experiment of eating only McDonald’s food for 30 days, also highlighting the health risks associated with fast food consumption. It also sparked conversations about nutrition, corporate responsibility, and the impact of the fast-food industry on public health.
