Jeremy Bernard Corbyn was born on May 26, 1949, in Chippenham, Wiltshire, England. His parents were Naomi Loveday (née Josling), a mathematics teacher, and also David Benjamin Corbyn, an electrical engineer and power rectifier expert.
Corbyn grew up in Shropshire, where his family instilled in him a sense of social justice and community activism. During the 1960s, Corbyn attended Castle House Preparatory School and also later Adams’ Grammar School. His political awakening occurred during this time, as he joined the Labour Party and also actively supported the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND).
