Personal Life
Born as Vincent Jean Mpoy Kompany on April 10, 1986, he hails from Uccle, Belgium. His parents have diverse backgrounds: his mother is Taiwanese, and his father is British. Both worked as architects. Also Growing up, Kompany developed an interest in Mandarin and Chinese calligraphy due to his mother’s influence. Kompany began his professional football career at Anderlecht. Graduating from their youth system, he also played for the club for three seasons before moving to Bundesliga club Hamburg in 2006.
In the summer of 2008, he also completed a transfer to Premier League club Manchester City, where he established himself as an integral part of the squad. He was also regarded as one of the bargain buys of the revolutionized City era, blossoming into one of the league’s best center-backs. In the 2011–12 season, he was awarded the captaincy of City, also leading the club to win the Premier League, their first league title in 44 years. Kompany also earned 89 caps for Belgium in a fifteen-year international career.
