Personal Life
Valeri Ivanovich Nichushkin, born on March 4, 1995, is a Russian professional ice hockey right winger. He currently plays for the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Growing up, he displayed a passion for hockey and began playing at a young age. Nichushkin’s talent quickly caught the attention of scouts and coaches. He also joined the youth system of Traktor Chelyabinsk, a prominent Russian hockey club. In 2013, Nichushkin was selected 10th overall by the Dallas Stars in the NHL Entry Draft.
His powerful skating, size, and scoring ability made him a promising prospect. Nichushkin made his NHL debut with the Dallas Stars during the 2013-2014 season. His rookie year showcased his potential, and he became a key player for the team. Valeri represented Russia in various international tournaments, also including the World Junior Championships and the World Championships. Nichushkin played his first regular season NHL game on October 3, 2013, against the Florida Panthers. He also scored his first career NHL goal on November 3, 2013, against Craig Anderson of the Ottawa Senators. In his rookie season, he recorded 14 goals and 20 assists. Unfortunately, hip and groin issues affected his sophomore campaign in 2014–15.
