Personal Life
Robert Menendez was born on January 1, 1954, in New York City. He grew up in Union City, New Jersey, and attended Union Hill High School. Menendez later pursued higher education at Saint Peter’s University. where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and also a master’s degree in public administration.
Before entering politics, Menendez worked as a lawyer. He served as a Union City Board of Education member and later as the Mayor of Union City.
He has chaired the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations twice (from 2013 to 2015 and again from 2021 to 2023). His legislative work spans various issues, also including immigration, healthcare, and foreign policy.
