IGP Urges Maturity, Patriotism, and Love for Humanity Ahead of December 2024 Elections

Election 2024: Be patriotic and show maturity - Dampare tells Ghanaians

In a recent address, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, emphasized the importance of maturity, patriotism, and love for humanity in ensuring a peaceful electoral process during the upcoming December 2024 elections in Ghana.

During an election preparation program organized by the Trades Union Congress in Accra, Dr. Dampare highlighted the pivotal role that every stakeholder plays in securing a smooth and also incident-free election. He stated, “The security agencies are ready for the elections, ready to keep the peace, ready to secure the country and ensure law and order.” However, he emphasized that citizens also have a crucial part to play.

Here are the key points from Dr. Dampare’s address:

    1. Maturity: Dr. Dampare urged Ghanaians to approach the election process with maturity. By engaging in civil discourse, respecting differing opinions, and adhering to democratic principles, citizens can also contribute to a positive and constructive environment.
    2. Patriotism: Demonstrating love for one’s country is essential during elections. Citizens should prioritize Ghana’s well-being over personal interests, ensuring that the electoral process remains focused on national development.
    3. Love for Humanity: Dr. Dampare emphasized the need for compassion and empathy. Treating fellow citizens with kindness and understanding fosters unity and also strengthens the democratic fabric of the nation.

The Inspector-General also highlighted the operational readiness of the National Election Command Center, which collaborates closely with the national election security task force. This collaboration aims to address election-related matters and ensure seamless elections across the country.

As anticipation builds for the 2024 elections, Dr. Dampare’s impassioned appeal serves as a reminder that collective responsibility and also unity are essential for a successful democratic exercise. By upholding these values, Ghanaians can reaffirm their commitment to democracy and contribute to national development.

Remember, the success of the December 2024 elections lies not only in the hands of security agencies but also in the hearts and actions of every citizen. Let us all work together to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process.
