Akufo-Addo’s Failure is leading To Mahama’s Comeback- Mr. Hassan Ayariga
In a candid interview on the Class Morning Show, Mr. Hassan Ayariga, founder of the All People’s Congress (APC), expressed his views on the political landscape in Ghana. He attributed former President John Mahama’s decision to seek a comeback to the perceived failure of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration.
Mr. Ayariga minced no words as he criticized President Akufo-Addo’s performance during his tenure. He asserted that the goodwill and hope Ghanaians had in Akufo-Addo before he assumed office had been squandered. “People gave him so much hope, and when we were saying that he would not be the best candidate, Ghanaians didn’t believe us and gave President Nana Akufo-Addo the mandate,” he stated.
However, eight years down the line, Mr. Ayariga questioned the country’s progress under Akufo-Addo’s leadership. “Can we say that President Akufo-Addo has performed better than the former president?” he asked, answering his own question with a resounding “no.” Despite not supporting John Mahama, Mr. Ayariga pointed out that Mahama’s decision to seek a comeback was driven by Akufo-Addo’s perceived abysmal handling of the country.
Akufo-Addo’s Failure
The APC founder stated, “People gave him so much hope, and when we were saying that he would not be the best candidate, Ghanaians didn’t believe us and gave President Nana Akufo-Addo the mandate.” He further questioned whether Mr. Akufo-Addo had performed better than the former president, concluding that the answer is still no.
Mr. Ayariga highlighted economic indicators such as inflation rates and the strength of the cedi, suggesting that Akufo-Addo’s government fell short compared to Mahama’s performance. The former president has been vocal about issues such as illegal mining (popularly known as “galamsey”), where he criticized Akufo-Addo’s efforts and graded them as an “F”.
As the political landscape heats up, Ghanaians eagerly await the outcome of the upcoming elections. Will Mahama’s comeback bid resonate with voters, or will Akufo-Addo’s administration manage to sway public opinion? Only time will tell.
