    Minister Approves Kumasi Airport Project

    THE MINISTER of Transport, Kwaku Asiamah, has expressed satisfaction about works done at the Kumasi International Airport project, so far.

    “This is a superb edifice and it fits international standards”, he said during a tour of the airport on Tuesday, adding “the contractor has done a good job”.

    According to the Transport Minister, virtually all the major stakeholders in the aviation industry, especially the Ghana Airport Company, are satisfied with the work.

    Kwaku Asiamah also announced that plans are far advanced by authorities for the Kumasi International Airport to be officially commissioned in May this year.

    The Transport Minister also added that the sublime-looking Kumasi International Airport would become operational before the close of June, this year.

    “We shall commission the newly built Kumasi International Airport before the end of May 2024. We shall then do more test runs of the machines there.

    “Also, latest by the end of June 2024, the airport shall start operations”, the Transport Minister announced, adding that he was satisfied with the contractor’s work.

    Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the new MD Ghana Airport Company, said 800,000 people would use the Kumasi International Airport annually when it becomes operational.
