He is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher currently playing for the Houston Astros in Major League Baseball (MLB). Blanco signed with the Astros as an international free agent in 2016 and also made his MLB debut in 2022.
Before transitioning to pitching, Blanco was a corner infielder and outfielder. However, at the age of 18, he shifted his focus to pitching. He joined the Houston Astros as an international free agent on April 27, 2016, at the age of 22. During his early minor league career, he showcased his talent, posting impressive numbers:
- In 2016, he split time between the DSL Astros and the GCL Astros, also recording a combined 7–1 win-loss record with a 2.13 ERA and 59 strikeouts over 50 2/3 innings.
- In 2017, he played for the Quad Cities River Bandits and the Buies Creek Astros, going 6–5 with a 3.38 ERA and 79 strikeouts across 88 innings.
