Construction Project Manager and Painter, Sharon Dede Padi, also known as Padiki has asked Ghanaians and people all over the globe to collectively help her attain the goal to break her upcoming Guinness World Records (GWR) Paint-a-Thon record in projecting Ghana.

Setting of the record scheduled to take place from March 15 to March 21, 2024, at the Ghana Village, it is aimed to paint more than 168 hours, seeking to break the current 100-hour Paint-a-Thon record held by Chancellor Ahaghotu.

Speaking in an interview, she said the initiative seeks to put a spotlight on the often-overlooked contributions of female artists in Ghana, adding that it will showcase Ghanaian culture and heritage on a global stage by her determination to forge a more inclusive and recognized space for women in the arts.

“I am inspired by my passion for art and my drive to make females involved in art recognized in Ghana, my preparation process includes appealing for sponsorships from companies across the country, curating the materials necessary to get me to my goal of breaking the record and ensuring that I am physically fit as well.

“By taking my daily vitamins and natural energy supplements and also by having my favourite songs played at points where I feel tired. I will switch from sitting to standing as I paint to reduce discomfort. I will also make good use of the short breaks I am entitled to get myself refreshed. I envision painting not less than 150 canvases before I end my marathon.”

She continued, “I will need approximately 3 easels, brushes, acrylic paints, canvases and stationery materials as well as a comfortable painting location, with the creativity aspect I just plan to paint whatever meaningful that comes to my mind like I always do and with the motivation just music will do.
