    Theme and Symbolism:

    • The theme for Pink Shirt Day 2024 is “Lift Each Other Up”.
    • The campaign emphasizes the importance of unity, inclusivity, and diversity among all people.
    • The symbol for this year’s campaign is a design created by internationally recognized artist Corey Bulpitt. It features two gesturing hands with a traditional Haida human face, also representing welcoming and respect within Coast Salish communities and the Northwest Coast.

    • Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 when two Canadian students took a stand against bullying.
    • After a fellow student was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. These courageous individuals also  distributed pink shirts to their classmates, encouraging them to join in.
    • This act of kindness sparked the movement. That now sees people around the world wearing pink to symbolize their commitment to preventing bullying.

    • Organizations like the Stigma-Free Society provide educational resources to empower educators and also school staff.
    • Lesson plans address topics such as anti-bullying, stigma, and mental health education.
