Born in Houston, Mississippi, in 1994, Chris Jones was a standout athlete from a young age. Playing high school football for the Hilltoppers, he earned a five-star rating and became one of the top recruits in his class. Choosing to stay close to home, Jones committed to Mississippi State University, where he quickly made a name for himself. During his college career, he recorded 102 tackles, 18.0 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks in just three seasons, culminating in Second-Team All-America honors in his junior year. His dominant presence on the defensive line caught the attention of NFL scouts, leading him to be drafted in the second round by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016.
