The attendance of football star and former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan publicly referred to as Baby Jet at the unveiling of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia‘s vision, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has further stoked the political ambition and greatest support for the NPP.

Asamoah Gyan was present at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) Kofi-Ohene Konadu Auditorium as the Vice President revealed his vision for the nation in advance of the December 7, 2024, elections.

Asamoah Gyan has frequently been associated with the NPP by internet users, although he has never acknowledged or refuted the connection, not even in open discussions.

Asamoah Gyan, the former general captain of the Black Stars, responded in 2020 to reports that he was considering running for the Greater Accra Region’s Weija-Gbawe seat as an MP.

He stated that although he does not currently have aspirations to pursue a career in politics, anything can happen in the future.

“I’m happy that people are grateful for what I have done. I said earlier that people want me to become their MP. The most important thing is that people are happy with what I have done”, he told Adom FM in an interview.

“Talking about politics anything can happen, but for now politics is not on my mind”. he pointed out.

Explaining further, the all-time leading scorer of the Black Stars with 51 goals said “Sometimes the people choose you, people can choose you to lead them. When the roads were going on plus other projects, many people were urging me to lead them as their MP.”

He noted that though he has not planned to do politics for now in this world anything can happen.

“Some people did not plan to do politics but at the end of the day they are doing politics which is a normal thing”, Asamoah Gyan stressed.
