Outspoken Ghanaian sports journalist, Saddick Adams has alleged that corruption has infuriated the Ghana Football Association (GFA) so much that, call up to the Blackstars team is always influenced.
Speaking in an interview on GHOne TV, Saddick Adams claimed that invitation into the national team is greatly influenced and not in positive sense by the people running Ghana’s football.
“Players are called based on whatever they have, in terms of relationship with people in the corridors of power. They come and their performances and how you can’t even change some players in the team,” he said.
The award-wining sports presenter added that some of the Blackstars players believe that there some people around the national team are there to siphon money from the association at the expense of patriotism and commitment.
Saddick Adams also outlined that the people employed to manage the national team lack the expertise to execute their duties.
“The current committee chaired by Mark Addo has failed consistently in the World cup, AFCON and the selection of coaches and they are still the ones who have been maintained. So if you sack the coach and keep the main chairman of the team who has embarrassingly failed consistently in AFCON and selection of coaches, how then do you say you are cleaning the system when the same problems keep on repeating. If you find a problem persisting for years then you have to blame the people pretending to solve that problem,” he said.
The broadcast journalist has been speaking passionately about the problems confronting the national team following another shocking exit from the 2023 African Cup of Nations after a disappointing 2-2 draw with Mozambique.
Some Ghanaians and sports journalists have called for the resignation of the entire GFA leadership as a first step to the rebuilding of the national team.
