Ayisha Alhassan, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication team member, has criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for failing to solve Ghana’s economic crisis when he faced with the reality.

Speaking in an interview on TV3, Ayisha Alhassan said the new NPP flagbearer only fixed Ghana’s economic woes on paper when he was in opposition, however, he was confronted with the realities on the ground, he has failed abysmally.

The NDC Communicator chastised President Nana Addo/Bawumia government for failing to honor their promise when they pledged to move Ghana from taxation to production.

“Dr. Bawumia in opposition fixed all the problems in the economy. All the economic problems she fixed them on paper. He held lectures on restoring the value on the cedi. In fact, theoretically he is good when it comes to the economy,” she said.

Ayisha Alhassan further added that Dr. Bawumia has digressed from his own taxation to production and he is now imposing new taxes on Ghanaians almost everyday.

“They promised Ghanaians to remove what they call nuisance taxes, apparently, all those promises were hoax. They never meant them, they were just words spoken to wow Ghanaians to vote for them [NPP],” she stated.

The NDC communicator claimed that since NPP came into power, President Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has imposed over 50 taxes on Ghanaians, but they promised to move Ghana from taxation to production.

When in opposition, Vice-President Dr. Bawumia was able to fix every issue facing Ghana on paper, but he was unable to do so when confronted with reality

Relatedly, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has come under fire from Mr. John Mahama for allegedly breaking a pledge he made to the vendors at the Kumasi Kejetia market, where a portion was destroyed by fire.

When the New Patriotic Party flagbearer visited the Kejetia market, he promised to fix the damaged area. However, Mahama says that Dr. Bawumia has not followed through on his promise.

Mr. Mahama stated that he was disappointed with Dr. Bawumia and that the Vice President was not deserving of votes because he had broken his pledge.

In the event that he wins the upcoming elections on December 7, John Mahama promised to address the matter.
