Wontumi Multimedia’s management has expressed genuine regret to Manhyia in response to Lawyer Maurlce Ampaw’s offensive comments regarding the royal fraternity during his live TV talk show, “Mmra Ne Abrabo Mu Nsem” Show, over the weekend.
‘Away Bus,’ the general manager, and Mr. Adom Appiah, the legal representative for Wontumi Multimedia, apologized Monday on the late-afternoon political talk show “Talk Ghana,” which was anchored by Kwaku Nkansah Kyeremanteng.
Mr. Agyei said, “He erred in his speech and spoke against traditional authorities at the Manhyia palace. It was wrong and so we are here to apologise. Management of the media house will go to the Palace but ahead of that, we want to use this channel to render an unqualified apology. We are on our knees. We plead that the traditional authorities forgive us.”
“Indeed, pre-production work takes place but the premeditated views of hosts cannot be known. We would like to state that Wontumi Multimedia can never use this medium to disrespect authorities. Who are we? Manhyia Palace has provided us with this land to work.”
Wontumi Multimedia and Attorney Maurice Ampaw were called by the Kumasi Traditional Council to appear before them on Monday in order to discuss the charges against them. The council took this action after learning of Wontumi’s alleged derogatory remarks directed at Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.
The NPP delegation, which included General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, appeared before the council at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, January 22. Sadly, Wontumi’s illness prevented her from attending the meeting. The council also demanded that Wontumi, attorney Maurice Ampaw, and the Wontumi TV/Radio management come before them to answer to charges of involvement.
Attorney Adom Appiah implored Manhyia to take into account the Company’s stance, especially that of its CEO, Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who has consistently demonstrated the highest regard for the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom and the Nananom in general.
Manhyia Council declared, “Wontumi should come along with Maurice Ampaw and the Management of his media house so they answer why they decided to use their air time to disrespect Nananom.”
