“Will you accept to leave a $10,000 salary at Africa Dev’t Bank to take $500 a month as a minister? There have been opportunities I have lost because of my passion and dedication to my country and continent,” Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah.

Dr. Spio-Garbrah further revealed that when former president John Mahama called on him to quit his job at Africa Developemt Bank and become a Minister, he gladly gave up all the benefits due to the love for his country.

Relatedly, Dr. Spio-Garbrah has expressed his willingness to be the vice-presidential candidate for National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Speaking in an interview on TV3 Hot Issues show, Dr. Spio-Garbrah indicated that he is capable and ready should John Mahama select him as his running-mate.

“I am also capable and ready, so it is a matter of his choice. If he [John Mahama] chooses me, you’ll hear about it,” the former Trade Minister said.

He further added that he has made himself known and available to lead the NDC party and Ghana even though he has been to many other places.

He also warned that the emergence of other political parties could potentially dilute the strength of NDC to defeat NPP in the 2024 polls.

“NPP and NDC have selected their flagbearers all of a sudden there another political party [New Force]. Were you aware of New Frce two months ago? Somebody has just shown up, it changes the permutations,” he said.
