Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West and Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has finally responded to rumors about the call to be the running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the 2024 general elections.
Notable figures have emerged in the contest for Dr. Bawumia’s running mate in the next general elections, including MP for Suame Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and Energy Minister Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and several others.
Speaking in an interview on UTV, the Communications Minister revealed that she talks to Dr. Bawumia often but they have never discussed her becoming his running mate.
According to her, the NPP party has a lot of work to do ahead of the 2024 polls. She wished the party would leave Dr. Bawumia to choose his own running mate.
She explained that her conversation with the Vice President and the flagbearer of the NPP has always been about digitization and their plans to break the 8.
The MP for Ablekuma West said she is focus on retaining her seat in Parliament to continue serving her people.
On the calls for a female running mate for the two biggest party in Ghana, Mrs. Ursula Owusu was hopeful that Ghana will one day have a female president.
She also revealed that she once clashed with Paa Kwesi Nduom in a meeting where she suggested that NPP and NDC must select a female running mate to boost women chances of becoming future president of the country.

In a related news, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education, also reacted to rumours of being considered as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate.
He declared that he would seize any chance to help his native Ghana.
The Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe declared on Tuesday, January 9, on the Citi Breakfast Show that he is always willing to lend his support to Ghana whenever needed.
“I am here to serve my nation, in any capacity I find myself I will serve this nation,” Dr Adutwum said.
