James Albert “Jim” Irsay III was born on June 6, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois. He is the son of Robert Irsay, founder of the Baltimore Colts. Irsay grew up in Baltimore and attended the University of Southern California, where he studied law.
After graduating from law school, Irsay joined the Baltimore Colts in 1982. He held various positions with the team, including director of scouting and vice president of football operations. In 1995, he also acquired the Indianapolis Colts after his father’s passing.
Under Irsay’s ownership, the Colts have become one of the most successful teams in the NFL. They won Super Bowl XLVI in 2006 and have also made several appearances in the AFC Championship game.
