The content creator Patrick Amenuvor has called it quits after taking on the incredible challenge of running a standing marathon in Accra from January 14 to January 21, 2024.
Although Patrick’s commitment to this extraordinary achievement is admirable and generated a lot of public discussion, he said he broke some rules and cannot continue.
Numerous opinions contest whether the quest for Guinness World Records has peaked and whether relevance, purpose, and societal impact should take precedence over these pursuits.
“We regret to inform you that the continuation of the Stand-A-Thon has encountered insurmountable challenges, necessitating an official halt,” part of the released statement by the management of Peter Amenuvor read.
The first reason the management gave was that there was an unforeseen electrical outage and technical complications that disrupted the Stand-A-Thon.
And the second reason is, they violated some the rules of the attempt to break the longest standing marathon by an individual.
However, some Ghanaians think, Peter Amenuvor and his management team are giving flimsy reasons to end the Stand-A-Thon.
In fact, investigations carried out reveal that there has been any official record for the longest standing marathon by any individual which has been recored in the Guinness World Records.
Some also doubt if Peter Amenuvor officially wrote to GWR and got approval to begin the official attempt. They argue since there has been such a record before, how then they know they have violated some of the rules of Stand-A-Thon.
Meanwhile, controversial Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has reacted after Amenuvor canceled his attempt to break the longest standing marathon.
Shatta Wale took to his Facebook page to drop a hilarious reaction, which read, “The stand-a-thon guy too say he taya oh Ghana when,” with laughing emojis.
