Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, has congratulated and praised Rastafarian student Tyrone Marhguy who scored As in all subjects following the release of WASSCE results a few days ago.

Tyrone Marhguy quickly became the talk of town after he posted a snippet video of checking his WACCE results and found out that he scored 8As as a science student at the Achimota Senior High School, where he was initially rejected because he was a Rastafarian.

A lot of Ghanaians including Stonebwoy has praised Tyrone Marhguy for proving his naysayers wrong with his WASSCE results. Stonebwoy even gave him 10 free VIP tickets to attend his December Bhim concert at the Accra Sports Stadium this weekend.

Well, Tyrone Marhguy is still receiving commendations from the public and MP for North Tongu is the latest person to congratulate him.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) page, Mr. Ablakwa was full of praise and admiration for the Rastafarian student.

According to the NDC outspoken MP, he is pleased to know that Marhguy didn’t let the people who fought for him to gain admission to Achimota school following his legal battle with the school before he was eventually accepted.

Mr. Ablakwa said he is proud and and delighted that he stood in parliament and defended the Rastafarian student to be admitted into Achimota school.

Hearty congratulations to Tyrone Iras Marhguy.

Indeed, who Jah bless — no one curse.

It is most heartwarming that you didn’t let down the many Ghanaians who advocated for you.

I am absolutely proud and delighted that I stood up for you in Parliament.

In 2021, Marhguy and Oheneba Nkrabea, a fellow Rastafarian student who also encountered initial rejection, made headlines and sparked a national conversation about individual rights and religious freedom.

The court ordered Achimota School to admit both Rastafarian students, stressing the protection of their fundamental human rights, following weeks of uncertainty and a legal battle that went all the way to the Human Rights Court.

After the resolution, Marhguy was able to join the school’s team and compete in the 2023 National Science and Math Quiz in addition to being admitted into Achimota School.
