Mustafa Gbandi, the deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has counseled Ghanaians to prepare for the general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024, by arming themselves.
Speaking on Okay FM in Accra, Mustafa Gbande of the NDC stated: “I have told the leadership of the NDC that we have to prepare in advance for the NPP ahead of the elections. when we are going to the polling station, let’s carry with us cutlasses. if we do, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not be able to misbehave toward us.”
Mr. Mustafa Gbandi insisted that, in the opinion of the NDC, arming voters at polling places is the only way to ensure a free and fair election when Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, the show’s host, pressed him to explain his actions as a senior member of the nation’s largest opposition party.

In a related news, Ghanaian actor cum politician, John Dumelo has lauded some National Democratic Congress (NDC) affiliated candidates who took part in the district-level elections yesterday.
Yesterday, Ghanaians nationwide went to polls to choose assembly and unit committee positions at the district-level organized by the Electoral Commission (EC).
In the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, NDC affiliated candidates won 7 electoral areas out of 13 as revealed by John Dumelo who took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to share the news with his followers.
According to him, since 2019, the New Patriotic Party has been dominating the most of the electoral areas in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency and in that year, the NDC boys managed only 4 areas as against NPP’s 9.
However, the tables turned this time around and they swept 7 electoral areas while the NPP had 6, which is the highest number the NDC boys have ever had for the last 20years. Electoral areas like Legon, West land and Dzorwulu central were all captured by the NDC boys.
