Bice Obour Obour, also known as Osei Kuffour, has formally announced his candidacy on behalf of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Asante Akyem South parliamentary seat.

Obour declared his unwavering resolve to take on the sitting Member of Parliament, Mr. Kwaku Asante-Boateng, and win the next elections in the wake of his defeat in the 2020 NPP primary.

In remarks to Kumasi-based journalists, Obour stressed, “I am committed to ‘breaking the 8’ and determined to contribute to its success. It is unacceptable for the NDC to perform better than us in our stronghold at Asante Akyem South.”

Expanding upon the main points of his campaign, he said, “I am totally committed to working very hard to make it happen. It will be a great history to be a part of, and I am leaving no stone unturned to help achieve that.”

Emphasizing the importance of his candidacy, he promised to concentrate on hard work, creativity, and creating jobs for the young people in the constituency. He presented plans to use his wide networks to actively support development projects and offer skill training.

In addressing the constituency’s unrealized potential, Obour promised, “I will work tirelessly to help achieve the goals of the constituency, leveraging the talents of high-profile personalities and individuals for the comprehensive development of the area.”

The veteran musician emphasized his unwavering loyalty and support for the party and the constituency, despite his prior primary defeat, and expressed confidence in winning delegate support this time. He underlined how crucial it is to pick candidates who can boost turnout for both presidential and parliamentary elections.

On December 20, 2023, Obour announced that he planned to gather nomination forms when the party begins accepting them.

The NPP has set January 27, 2024, as the date of the internal election to choose parliamentary candidates in seats currently held by MPs. The nomination period will end on December 25, 2023.
