John Dramani Mahama, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, has called on some party faithful to form a united force to regain power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking to some NDC faithfuls in a meeting, John Mahama said Ghana needs an experienced hand to rescue the country from the current economic hardship.

According to John Mahama, Ghana would be better off with an experienced leader than someone looking to test their leadership abilities with the nation’s governance.

He claimed that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia led government’s deliberate mismanagement has destroyed the nation’s economy.

He underscored the importance of maintaining unity within the NDC in order to win the 2024 elections so that they can implement good polices to recover Ghana’s economy.

John Mahama cited his visit to the defeated presidential candidate of the NDC, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor who later visited the former president at his residence to make peace.

John Mahama is pleading with the Electoral Commission (EC) not to rig the general election in favor of any candidate.

As part of the “Building Ghana Together” tour, the former president addressed an energizing group of students at the Wiaso College of Education and Nursing Training in the Western North Region.

He stated that the Electoral Commission‘s stance is crucial to a credible election.

“They should do their duty to God and country. They shouldn’t cheat for anybody. I don’t want them to cheat for me and they shouldn’t rig the election for anybody”, John Mahama stressed.

“They should let the voice of the people speak and they should let the wish of the Ghanaian people prevail,” he said.

“Electoral Commission Officers, I am appealing to your conscience and your heart, on that day 7th December when you come out, do your work as strictly and according to the rules as possible”.
