John Dramani Mahama, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, is pleading with the Electoral Commission (EC) not to rig the general election in favor of any candidate.

As part of the “Building Ghana Together” tour, the former president addressed an energizing group of students at the Wiaso College of Education and Nursing Training in the Western North Region.

He stated that the Electoral Commission‘s stance is crucial to a credible election.

“They should do their duty to God and country. They shouldn’t cheat for anybody. I don’t want them to cheat for me and they shouldn’t rig the election for anybody”, John Mahama stressed.

“They should let the voice of the people speak and they should let the wish of the Ghanaian people prevail,” he said.

“Electoral Commission Officers, I am appealing to your conscience and your heart, on that day 7th December when you come out, do your work as strictly and according to the rules as possible”.

He emphasized once more that the nation “needs rescuing.”

“I have that experience, I have been President of Ghana before and you all know the work that I did when I was President. I know that on 7th December, 2024, Insha Allah, NDC will win the election”.

He called on the united supporters to cast as many ballots as possible in order to restore the NDC to power and restore the nation’s economic clout.

In other news, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, the member of parliament for North Tongu, has released a new document that shows the government has set aside a sizeable sum of money to settle a judgment debt owed by the Ghana Power Generator Company (GPGC).

The North Tongu MP criticized the government on his X (previously Twitter) page for not providing emergency housing for those affected by the flood caused by the Volta River Authority (VRA), but he also released a statement “a staggering GHC230.5 million ($20million) to pay for the judgement debt they recklessly & wickedly created.”
