Gospel performer Sonnie Badu, a Ghanaian living in the UK, recently opened up after performing at his just-ended Rhytms of Africa concert without crutches.
Recall, the Baba hitmaker announced that he had undergone major surgery after a domestic accident on his social media pages, sharing pictures of himself on crutches prior to the event.
Curiously, some online users asserted that Sonnie Badu was merely using the aforementioned domestic mishap to promote his upcoming show.
Their suspicions may have been validated when Sonnie Badu took the stage and delivered an eclectic performance that will undoubtedly stay in the memories of attendees for a very long time.
This time, however, Badu—who had been limping for a week following the aforementioned domestic performance—performed without it.
The Wonder God performer returned the crutches shortly after his show and received assistance leaving the stage.
Speaking in an interview with Abeiku Santana, Sonnie Badu said he couldn’t come limping on stage after the investment made for my concert.
According to him, he decided to perform without using the chair his team provided nor the crutches because he was eager to perform despite the pains he would feel after.
He added that he was motivated by the visuals on stage and the fact his children would one day question him for not performing at his own concert encouraged him to take the risk.

Badu recently opened up about the difficulties he had getting sponsorship for a recent performance.
In a recent interview, Sonnie Badu revealed that his team faced challenges because the majority of the potential sponsors declined to provide support, even after more than five months of careful planning.
As a result, Sonnie Badu was forced to sell his pricey Rolex watch in order to pay for the occasion.
Badu performed a successful Rhytms of Africa concert at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Saturday, December 9.
