The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has selected Thomas Partey, the deputy captain of the Black Stars, and Mohammed Kudus, the West Ham United player, as members of the best eleven of 2023.

Thomas Partey, despite his injury struggles, has been an important player for Arsenal and the Black Stars.

Mohammed Kudus, 23, had an outstanding year in the year under review for both the Ghana national team and his clubs, Ajax and West Ham United.

Along with Mohammed Kudus, the other players who made the CAF team of the year are Andre Onana, Achraf Hakimi, Sofyan Amrabat, and Sadio Mane.

    CAF Team of the Year:

Andre Onana, Achraf Hakimi, Chancel Mbemba, Kalidou Koubaly, Thomas Partey, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Mohammed Kudus, Sofyan Amrabat, Sadio Mane, Victor Osimhen, Mohammed Salah.

Meanwhile, the 2023 African Player of the Year was awarded to Nigerian and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen at the Confederations of African Football (CAF) Football Awards in Marrakech.

The Super Eagles’ marksmen defeated Moroccan Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain and Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Egypt to win the prize.

Victor Osimhen emerged victorious, marking the first Nigerian to do so since Kanu Nwankwo’s victory in 1999.

After leading his team to its first Serie A championship in more than thirty years, Osimhen was awarded the coveted award.

The Napoli entertainers dominated Italian football as the striker, who is based in Italy, scored 27 goals on all fronts.

The 24-year-old accomplished this, making history as the first Napoli player to top score in Italian football since Diego Maradona in 1987–88.

After yet another outstanding campaign, Osimhen has become the first Nigerian to win the men’s award since Kanu Nwankwo in 1999.

Few people anticipated Napoli’s triumph last summer, but his goals helped them win their first Serie A championship since Maradona’s time.

Asisat Oshoala of Barcelona, a fellow countrywoman of Oshimen, was also named Female Player of the Year. Six times around, she has triumphed, setting a record, after leading Barcelona to Champions League success.

To keep her title, the 29-year-old striker defeated Barbara Banda of Zambia and Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa.
