According to Amos Walibe, the NPP’s regional director of communications, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s 2024 flagbearer, is bringing down the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the North East Region.

He claims that NDC members in the area who prioritize regional development are switching to the NPP because they think the latter is doing a better job at it than the former.

He claimed that the NDC was rapidly slipping from power in the area.

He expressed assurance that the best way to gain ground in the NDC’s strongholds during the general elections is for Dr. Bawumia to become president of Ghana.

Addressing the press, Amos Walibe said “…Which is that, it was an attempt at halting the speedy dwindling fortunes of the NDC in the Northeast region. It has become abundantly clear that the NDC in the Northeast Region is facing an imminent extinction following the election of Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the flagbearer of the NPP.

A true showdown between Dr. Bawumia and NDC flagbearer John Mahama in 2024 has been set by Bawumia’s election as the NPP’s flagbearer.

Both of the presidential candidates are from the north of the nation, and they will compete for votes in the five northern regions as well as the Zongo areas, which have supported the NDC since the Fourth Republic’s founding in 1992.

Nevertheless, since Dr. Bawumia entered politics, the margins had shrunk.

Both contenders are from areas that were divided from the Northern Region.

Mahama is from the Savannah Region, while Dr. Bawumia is from the Northeast.

Meanwhile, Mahama recently unveiled a comprehensive plan to strengthen Ghana’s extractive sector in order to increase domestic revenue, improve local involvement, and lessen the tax burden on individuals and companies.

A variety of strategies, including legislative reviews, anti-corruption campaigns, strategic investments, and sector-specific reforms, are included in the visionary approach.

Mahama’s overarching vision serves as a guide for directing the country toward increased economic prosperity.
