In order to prevent Catholic priests from allegedly being “pedophilic, sodomizing young boys at the alter, raping women and having multiple children all over,” media personality Bridget Otoo has proposed that priests be castrated.
She claims that the Roman Catholic Church is fully aware of the accusations made against Catholic priests, but has been “covering it.”
Some internet users took offense at her suggestion that Catholic priests be permitted to get married in order to reduce the number of alleged sexual assaults committed by them.
“Can we Catholics also copy others and let our priests marry instead of the immoral lives they are living? Having children, some raping women and sodomizing innocent boys at the altar? That’s not Christlike,” Bridget Otoo wrote on X.
She later changed her mind after receiving criticism from some of her followers, first apologizing for her previous suggestion and then suggesting that the men of God should be castrated rather than allowed to marry. It is, in her opinion, an additional measure to guarantee that priests refrain from engaging in sexual misconduct.
“I’m sorry for suggesting that Catholic priests be allowed to marry, I was trying to be kind. If they won’t change their pedophilic, sodomizing young boys at the alter, raping women and having multiple children all over with the church covering it, I suggest we castrate them,” Bridget Otoo’s second post read.
Priests serving in the Catholic Church are required to maintain celibacy, which means they are not allowed to get married or have sexual relations. This has been a centuries-old practice with historical roots.
Meanwhile, Nathaniel Bassey has urged his fellow Ghanaian Gospel musicians to write their songs in English.
According to him, he knows Ghanaian Gospel ministers love to write their songs in the Ghanaian local language, however, he believes God has endowed them with a special power for global recognition.
