The National Democratic Congress (NDC)’sFunctionalExecutive Committee (FEC) has declared that Michael Nii Yarboi is no longer eligible to run in the Odododiodioo Constituency’s parliamentary elections.

This decision is the result of a report that was turned in by the Special Committee that was assigned the duty of looking into the violence that took place on Friday, October 13, 2023, during the vetting of candidates for parliament.

“…Mr. Michael Nii Yarboi is not qualified by the provisions of article 41 (8) (b) of the constitution of the NDC and, therefore, cannot contest in the Parliamentary elections in Odododiodioo Constituency,” the FEC said.

The FEC further announced that all expenses associated with the damage at the center will be shared by the two other candidates, Alfred Nii Kotei Ashie and Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea, whose supporters were allegedly in charge of the property damage during the vetting process.

It expressed regret to journalist Miss Akosua Octhere for being mistreated during the screening process and promised to work with her to cover all of her medical expenses.

Meanwhile, When National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama proposed a 24-hour economy policy, Agriculture Minister, Bryan Acheampong discredited it and was heckled.

Speaking over the weekend at an event in the Central Region, Bryan Acheampong stated that while the proposal was commendable, it was obvious that the former president was not the appropriate person to make the proposal.

The Agriculture Minister used Mahama’s electrical difficulties as president to support his argument, even though some audience members found his posture uncomfortable.

“The 24-hour economy is good news, but even in the 8-hour economy, he (Mahama) was unable to keep the lights on… the 8-hour economy he failed at and bequeathed to us, is it 24 hours that he can manage?” Acheampong asked.

Then there were boos from some parts of the crowd, and some people started chanting “away, away.”
