Charlie Munger is an American investor, businessman, and attorney who is vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Corporation. He is also known for his value investing philosophy and his partnership with Warren Buffett.
Munger was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on January 1, 1924. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in mathematics in 1946 and also from Harvard Law School with a degree in law in 1951.
After law school, Munger practiced law in Los Angeles for several years. He then moved to Omaha to join Buffett’s law firm, Wheeler, Munger & Tolles. Munger and Buffett became close friends and partners, and Munger also played a key role in Buffett’s investment success.
