Corey Perry was born in Haileybury, Ontario, on May 16, 1985. He is the son of Geoff Perry, a former high school teacher and coach, and Nancy Perry, a nurse. Perry has an older brother, Adam, who also played hockey.
Perry began playing hockey at the age of four. He quickly developed a passion for the sport and was considered to be one of the top prospects in his age group. He played his minor hockey for the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
Perry was drafted 28th overall by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Mighty Ducks in 2005 and quickly established himself as a top goal-scorer.
