Ghanaian MP Isaac Adongo has publicly apologized to Manchester United defender Harry Maguire for his earlier criticisms in a rare display of humility. Adongo mocked Maguire’s play on the football field the previous year.

But the lawmaker now admits that the Manchester United player has changed dramatically in the last year, indicating a turning point in the player’s career.

The vice president was made fun of by the Bolga Central MP, who said that although Harry Maguire has developed into a revolutionary football player, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has turned to pleading with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to save Ghana from economic crisis.

“Mr Speaker, as for our Maguire, he is roaming at IMF with a cup in hand. Our economic Maguire go pensioners to leave their homes and come and parade on the streets” Isaac Adongo was heard saying in Parliament.

Harry Maguire, a pivotal member of Manchester United’s squad in the English Premier League since 2019, has previously come under fire from Isaac Adongo. Football fanatic Adongo was very forthright in his criticism of Maguire’s on-field performance.

However, the MP apologized for drawing comparisons between the English footballer and Ghana’s vice president, but he was impressed with how the former Manchester United captain had improved as a player.

"I now apologize…Today, Maguire has turned the corner and is a transformational footballer”

Months after Isaac Adongo ridiculed the #MUFC defender in the Ghanaian parliament, the MP has praised him for turning around his form 🇬🇭

Meanwhile, the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration has come under fire from the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama for cracking down on dissent.

He claimed that criticism of Ghanaians and free speech have been suppressed by the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

During his “Building Ghana Tour,” he stressed the importance of preserving democracy in the nation while addressing a durbar of students in the Ahafo Region.

He emphasized further that many Ghanaians are afraid to speak out about wrongdoings and happenings in their country because of the autocratic atmosphere.
