A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Team, Lawrence Kwesi Botchway Jnr says former president John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy is another way the NDC wants to use to deceive Ghanaians into power.
Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy has received heavy criticisms from public opinion leaders and some politicians.
The NDC’s leader, John Dramini Mahama, reacted to his critics and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s assertions that the 24-hour economy is already in place.
John Mahama claims that some businesses that are open around-the-clock do not revoke a policy that offers incentives to those who choose to enroll.
According to Mr. Mahama, this policy will deal with the urgent problem of young Ghanaians traveling dangerously across the Mediterranean and Sahara in search of better opportunities in Europe.
In response, the former president addressed the matter in an interaction with St. Joseph’s College of Education students in Bechem as the ‘Building Ghana Tour’ got underway in the Ahafo Region.
He stated that interested institutions can voluntarily join the initiative.
The former president assures that a group of specialists is working to complete the policy document in the interim.
However, Kwesi Botchway Jnr speaking in a panel discussion on UTV, claimed that the former president has credibility crisis.
According to him, Mahama has been a vice president and president before but failed to deliver his mandate as expected of him.
Kwesi Botchway said the NDC flagbearer cut sod in March 2013 to create employment for 300 million young people in Ghana and in Africa but the HOPE project has stalled even till now.

Relatedly, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has taken a swipe at Mahama for claiming he has solutions to the current economic crisis in the country.
Speaking to a throng of people in Tamale on Monday as part of his northern tour, Dr. Bawumia reminded the people how Mahama turned deaf ears to Ghanaians when they complained about the hardships in the country during his tenure as president.
