Four prominent individuals have had their membership in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) revoked due to their endorsement of Alan Kojo Kyeremanten.
Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow, Hopeson Adorye, and Boniface Abubakar Saddique are no longer party members for their support of the former Trade and Industry Minister, according to a press release from the party.
This endorsement is cited in the statement, which is signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, as a violation of the party’s constitution, specifically Articles 3(5) (A)(4) and 3(9)(1).
These articles place a strong emphasis on the duty of party members to follow and publicly support decisions.
The press release emphasizes that the party is aware of the four people’s actions and that they continue to be associated with the NPP in spite of their violations of the party’s constitution.
It clarifies at the end that their membership has been revoked because their actions have violated the party’s principles.
“The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken notice of recent activities of Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow, and Boniface Abubakar Saddique which includes publicly endorsing the candidature of a person other than the duly elected Presidential Candidate of the Party; Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.”
“Despite their flagrant breach of the Party’s Constitution particularly Articles 3(5) (A)(4) and 3(9)(1), the afore-named men still hold themselves out as members of the NPP.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, Article 3(5) (A) (4) of the NPP Constitution enjoins all members of the Party to ‘abide by and publicly uphold the decisions of the Party’,” parts of the statement added.

Meanwhile, according to Afia Pokua, also referred to as Vim Lady, Alan Kyeremanten’s departure from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was not motivated by good intentions.
The broadcaster stated that the reason the former Trade and Industry Minister left the ruling party was not due to his chances of winning the general elections in 2024.
Afia Pokua said that Alan Kyerematen might be planning something more than just becoming president in 2024.
