Biography
Milan Lucic was born on June 7, 1992, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He is the son of Slobodan Lucic and Mira Lucic. Lucic has one brother, Marko Lucic, who also plays professional hockey.
Lucic began playing hockey at a young age. He played in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) for the Kelowna Rockets from 2010 to 2012. In his two seasons with the Rockets, Lucic scored 60 goals and 113 points in 119 games. He was also named to the BCHL First All-Star Team in 2012.
Lucic was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round (51st overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Bruins in 2014. In his rookie season, Lucic scored 17 goals and 27 points in 71 games. He was also a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the NHL’s top rookie.
Life
Lucic was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 2015. In his first season with the Kings, Lucic scored 20 goals and 36 points in 82 games. He was also a key member of the Kings’ Stanley Cup championship team in 2017.
Lucic signed a seven-year, $42 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers in 2017. In his first season with the Oilers, Lucic scored 27 goals and 50 points in 79 games. He also helped the Oilers reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2018.
Lucic was traded back to the Boston Bruins in 2021. In his second stint with the Bruins, Lucic has been a reliable role player and a leader on and off the ice. He has also been a mentor to the Bruins’ younger players.
