President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has underlined how crucial it is to stay away from politicians who try to take advantage of tribal and religious feelings in order to further their own agendas.
The President issued a warning, saying that these people would not benefit the multiparty democracy, diversity, or unity of the country in any way.
In a speech to the Bantama chiefs and populace in Kumasi, President Akufo-Addo urged voters to exercise caution when selecting their leaders as the general elections of 2024 draw near.
Voters, he emphasized, ought to give preference to leaders who have demonstrated competence, a strong record, and unwavering integrity.
“What matters most is that we give the nod to leaders whose competency, track record, and integrity cannot be doubted,” he emphasized.
The 2024 elections, according to President Akufo-Addo, will be crucial in deciding the country’s development agenda.
He exhorted Ghanaians to put their faith in capable and reliable leaders rather than those who sow discord among tribes and religions. He issued a warning about the danger of entrusting inept leaders with the country’s future.
Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister of Works and Housing and Member of Parliament for Bantama, was praised by the President for his contribution to the development of an e-library project.
President Akufo-Addo urged the populace to take charge of the project, highlighting its significance in raising the educational bar for young Ghanaians.
Relatedly, according to President Nana Akufo-Addo, the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under the former president John Dramani Mahama failed to deliver on its mandate.
President Nana Akufo-Addo said he believes that the NDC flagbearer won’t do anything better if voted into power in 2024.
The President urged the electorates against falling for what he describes as ‘deception’ from John Mahama and the NDC.
“We going to the polls again, the one who couldn’t perform has returned as a change person seeking for votes, who does that. You were given the mandate but you couldn’t, you are only trying to deceive us. Will you agree to vote for him, we don’t do that,” President Nana Addo said.
