According to a recent survey conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and Fitch Solutions, John Dramani Mahama, the nominee for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is expected to win the general elections in 2024.
The research firms predict that the former president will defeat New Patriotic Party member Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to the EIU, inadequate public services, dwindling living standards, and a lack of job opportunities will be the main causes of this.
However, Fitch Solutions predicts that former President John Mahama will win the swing regions by almost 48 percent to Vice President Bawumia’s 29 percent, making it unlikely for the ruling party to hold onto power.
As per Fitch Solutions subsidiary BMI, it is improbable that the ruling NPP will continue to hold power following the 2024 elections.
They used data from Global Info Analytics in addition to their own, and the results showed that the NDC was superior to the NPP in the Akan, Northern, Volta-Oti, and all swing regions.
According to the EIU, elections will take place in roughly nine African nations in 2024. While incumbent regimes are predicted to win most of these elections, there is a greater chance that their parliamentary majorities will be weakened.
The EIU report indicates that the NDC is expected to take over as the ruling party in Ghana in 2024, replacing the NPP. They claim that deteriorating living conditions, a lack of employment options, and subpar public services are the main causes of this.
In a related news, According to financial analyst Joe Jackson, Ghanaians cannot be forced to adopt the 24-hour economy that NDC leader and 2024 flagbearer John Mahama has promised to implement.
He implored the government to offer incentives and foster a welcoming atmosphere by making a 24-hour economy alluring to business owners.
Joe Jackson stated in an interview with Citi FM in Accra that the most crucial point is that a 24-hour economy cannot be imposed.
