The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will undoubtedly win the general elections in 2024, according to Minister of Trade and Industry K.T Hammond.

He predicted that because of the governing party’s many achievements for national development, Ghanaians would cast large numbers of ballots in its favor.

In a media interview following the November 15, 2023, budget reading, Hammond stressed that the party is committed to winning a historic third term in office in order to carry on the advancements in development that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo started.

K.T Hammond criticized the minority’s attitude and called them “jokers” in response to what he saw as dismissive gestures made during finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta‘s budget reading.

He conveyed his belief that the NPP can retake power on the basis of its current accomplishments and development initiatives.

“I mean these guys are jokers, they were waving goodbye to us, we are ‘Breaking the Eight,’ and we are coming back under Mahamudu Bawumia. The next administration in 2025, NPP will be sitting at that same side that you saw us today,” K.T Hammond asserted.

He added, “There is 1D1F, all the cars that we are manufacturing, there is an industrial transformation that is taking place, the agric front, the exchange rate will be stabilized.”

The NPP is committed to winning in 2024 in order to break the customary eight-year cycle of shifting power. The party is aiming to win another term in the next elections after winning the presidency in 2016 and keeping it in 2020.

Meanwhile, Akosombo spillage and floods in the Oti, Savannah, and Bono-East regions have affected communities.

The government has allocated GH¢220 million to support the relief phase for these communities, according to Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta.

Presenting the government’s economic policy and budget for 2024 said, “Mr. Speaker, the government has budgeted an amount of GH¢220 million to support the relief phase for the communities affected by the Akosombo spillage as well as floods upstream in the Oti, Savannah, and Bono-East Regions.
