Ken Dorsey was born on July 22, 1981, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He attended Davie County High School, where he was a star athlete in football, basketball, and baseball. He was named the Gatorade Circle of Champions North Carolina Player of the Year in 2000.
After high school, Dorsey also attended Miami University in Florida, where he played college football for the Miami Hurricanes. He was also a three-year starter for the Hurricanes and led them to a national championship in 2001. He was also named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in 2004.
Dorsey was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the 49ers as a backup quarterback. In 2008, he was also traded to the Cleveland Browns. He spent three seasons with the Browns as a starter and led them to the playoffs in 2009.
In 2011, Dorsey also signed with the Seattle Seahawks. He also spent three seasons with the Seahawks as a backup quarterback. In 2013, he retired from the NFL.
After retiring from the NFL, Dorsey worked as a coaching analyst for ESPN. In 2019, he was hired as the quarterbacks coach for the Carolina Panthers.
