Former Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and spokesperson for Alan Kyerematen’s campaign, Yaw Buaben Asamoa has spoken on the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia‘s selection as the new NPP flagbearer.
Speaking in an interview on Citi TV’s Big Issue Show, Yaw Buaben Asamoa claimed that “There wasn’t a genuine choice” in the recent ended NPP presidential primaries which saw Dr. Bawumia won by a landslide.
According to the former MP for Adentan Constituency, NPP delegates were forced against their will to vote for the Vice President to become the new the flagbearer.
“The import of skewing the election is that, there wasn’t a genuine choice. Delegates were not given space/room to select the person of their choice. When it knocks on, it means that the person that the party has brought, may not necessarily reflect the choice of majority of the voters in Ghana,” he said.
Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoa asserted that NPP delegates were to told to vote for Dr. Bawumia to prove that the NPP is not an Akan party as the NDC has been using it against them.
Also, delegates were informed that the NDC fears Bawumia and finally, Dr. Bawumia’s selection will help the party win the muslim and zongo communities.
However, the Spokesperson of Alan Kyerematen, he noted that these theories do not reflect the choice of 17million Ghanaian voters.

Meanwhile, Alan Cash has urged Ghanaians to vote against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, in the general elections of 2024.
According to Alan Cash, Ghanaians can expect nothing new from Bawumia.
Speaking at a forum, Alan claimed that Dr. Bawumia was powerless to turn around Ghana’s failing economy.
He believes that Dr. Bawumia’s assertion that, upon winning the NPP flagbearership contest on November 4, 2023, he would become his own man with his own vision is untrue.
