Deputy National Communication OfficerKennedy Agyapong never congratulated the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his selection as the new NPP flagbearer after the NPP presidential primary.
National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale, says thatVice President Mahamudu Bawumia won 61.47% of the vote (118,210 votes) in the NPP presidential primary. The nearest competitor, Agyapong, received 37.41% of the vote (71,996 votes).
According to Malik Basintale, Kennedy Agyapong had the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Bawumia after mounting the podium to give his speech after the NPP primaries but never did.
The NDC Deputy National Communication Officer said that the Member of Parliament for Assin Central rather congratulated the his supporters, police personnel, the party executives and even the watchmen who took care of the congress.
Mr. Malik Basintale claimed that Ken Agyapong did not even in a single time mentioned Dr. Bawumia’s name in his speech after the NPP presidential primaries.
“Kennedy Agyapong mounted the podium, he had the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Bawumia, he never did. He congratulated the police, the elections committee, the EC, he congratulated even the watchmen who took care of the congress, but the man who had defeated him, he refused to congratulate him, he never did,” Mr. Basintale said.
Reacting to Ken Agyapong’s remarks made at his ‘Showdown’ Thanksgiving party organized for his supporters and coordinators after the NPP presidential primary, the NDC communicator claimed the unconventional politician still sees himself leading the NPP party to 2024 elections.
“Kennedy Agyapong still sees himself leading the party in 2024 elections because he has told his people they will come back stronger. If a man like this refuses to congratulate Dr. Bawumia, yet talks about breaking the 8 and tells his people they are coming back stronger, what does it tell you?” he quizzed.
